The Pessimist

It's been quite a while since my last post. A few posts ago I mentioned that my father was in the hospital, probably dying. Well, there was no probably about it ... he died a few days later in September.

So, my life has been quite disrupted for quite some time. With his falling ill and 6 week stay in the hospital, followed by the funeral and clearing up his household, I've been very busy. All of this happened 4 hours away from where I live, meaning lots of travel. So I've had no energy to spare for this column.

And it's been killing me too, not to have this outlet. In the mere 2 months since my last post:

• The Ontario election and referendum came and went. I must say that I am fairly happy with the way that turned out.
• More Canadians have been killed in Afghanistan
• Pakistan has fallen under marshall law.
• The religion of peace has continued to issue suicide-bombers and road side bombs with ever greater deadliness.
• Little muslim girls continue to want to wear religious costumes while playing soccer or competing in tai kwon do tournaments. Meanwhile, their mothers are bringing actions against their employers for being required to wear immodest uniforms instead of burka-like costumes.
• The RCMP is lazily killing people with tasers, instead of using more time-consuming police methods like talking
• And Canada's most hated prime minister comes back from the dead to fling his feces around at his party and other dead prime ministers

The news brings me silliness in all forms on a daily basis that cries out for me to express my uninformed opinion. And sadly thepessimist just hasn't had time.
